SOLOMONS PAULETTE photo by Brian Richman in 1995. National Clydesdale Show 1st place Yeld Mare, SR CHAMPION MARE, BEST AMERICAN BRED MARE, & Res GRAND CHAMPION MARE IN 1995, 1996, & 1997

Updated 12-08-06 We have 29 clydes as of today & were still showing a few horses that we raised here on the farm. Were located a mile South of Osborne KS on The East side of US HWY 281, along the South Fork Of The Solomon River. We have several new young mares to breed this next season as WESTEDGE IDEAL IVAN has been a horse that has left the fillies here. I made a herd sire page for him & he earned it too, he's one of our best breeding horses to date. If your looking for a colt for your future sire or your wanting a good gelding he might be here, On Jan. 1 2007 we will have one 3 yr old gelding, 2 colts turning 2 & 3 yearling colts all of which are good sound horses. Check out the 2006 page for the show  pictures in 06  &  scroll down aways & about the the bottom 1/3 I put some  pictures of Gina growing up as I just found out she's moving to Chicago right after graduating K-State this spring to work for Sara Lee. We even named a filly here Solomons Sara Lee this summer because Gina did her internship with the company last summer in Madison WI. Morgan is going to K-State too & working on his degree in Mechanical & Nuclear Engineering & working part-time for the Wamego Telephone Co.Were really looking forward to next years World Show, as well as all the other shows too, but were getting alot of calls from people wanting a Good Clyde for the world show. If your going to show there & your coming from the WEST & need a good rest stop call me & I know a great place to overnite on  I -70  in Russell KS or  I-80 too as I know several Nebraskans That live just off I-80 Between Lincoln & Kearney.

IF YOU FEED HAY IT MIGHT WELL BE THE BEST!
I'm a grain farmer & I also put up alot of hay using a  New Holland 3x3 Big Square Baler with the "cropcutter" attachment. Alfalfa bales will average around 1050 to around 1150lbs brome around 900 to 1000lbs straw 700 to 750 lbs (200+ RFV) PREMIUM DAIRY & HORSE HAY.  We are in an area that produces some of the best & finest stemed, bromegrass native grasses & alfalfa hay you can buy! If your thinking you might want a semi load delivered, how many bales can I get in a full load. Grass hay & straw you can get a full load being 9 bales per row, 3 high & 3 wide & be under 23 ton which is a close est. of what most trucks with an aluminum trailer can scale & a 48' trailer can hold 54 3x3'x8 3 rows high & 3 bales wide. You can mix up a load of grass, straw & alfalfa to make a full load & scale it too, as a load of (alfalfa alone around 40 to 46 bales approx.) will be less bales than a mix of different weight bales to get the 3 high & 3 wide strait across 54+ bales. I sent samples of my brome & native grasses to the lab & had them do several specific tests, cal to phos, sel, protein ect... for horses ran on it & the vet @ the lab said he never seen any better horse hay, he said there is no standard scale for horses like in the dairy but in comparison to the dairy test my bromegrass & nativegrass "would be anywhere from the just over premium quality to the mid ranges of supreme levels". It was 11.9% protein & all the mineral contents selenium cal. to phos. ratio traces ect...were in the lab vets words."that hay has more mineral content than you'll find on the label of any mineral bucket!" I have a 3x3 New Holland with the "cropcutter attachment" if you like to have your hay ground now you can have ground hay that already ground & in a bale! Let me know in advance if your wanting it ground or what percentage of grind you like. I can bale you some straw thats not only so clean & bright ya need sunglasses to see & it's shredded too! You cut the strings on these straw bales & you'll hear a "snap"  when the last string is cut, it almost explodes as it falls apart, & you have a 700 to 750 lb mound of (no need to shake the flakes with a fork) they almost flow like shavings you can almost use a scoop but not quite. It's way better  for absorbing urine & you can really make a nice flat square straw line with it, & it's the  easier & way  less space in the trailer is used for hay & bedding. You can take 750 lbs of bedding & use only a 3x3x8ft or whatever length you want them (they stack too)trailer space. You can easily scoot them around too, I tip them on their side & put a shop creeper with a lead rope attached under them & an 8 yr old child can pull it with the lead rope attached to the creeper. it usually takes a couple hands to roll em out of the trailer & getting the creeper under them but it beats throwing bales in & out of the trailer & dragging them all the way to your stalls, using all your trailer space, or buying bedding @ the show for a week. A 30 lb straw bale(if that) divided by 750=25 small bales!

Kansas State Equestrian Team
Gina made the Kansas State Equestrian Team. She participated in three shows during the year, and made three firsts. She also participated in offseason and made the national team. She got 6th place in her class and the team got 5th place. Gina did a little better this season & finished 4th in the nation for The K-State Equestrian Team in Western Pleasure.

Solomons O Suzanna IS OUR MARE THATS 6 YRS YOUNG & JUST HAD HER 4th FILLY! 4 FULL SISTERS HERE!

We had 10 mares to breed last spring & we sold 2 nice young mares to Stoney Creek Clydesdales Mr. Bill Goodwin from Honesdale PA. Both mares had their foals & he was The 1st Place Colt @ the NY STATE FAIR. We had 6 foals here with Solomons Ideal Gloria who is well in her years open & one other aborted as she was ultrasounded in foal, but WESTEDGE IDEAL IVAN was the one to confirm her open EARLY THIS SPRING! We ended up with 6 foals here & still have 6 & Bills 2 are still doing well too so 8 foals out of 10 Mares is alright with me. Solomons Polly who is Paulettes full sister had a very nice filly this spring & she was the 1st place Jr. filly foal @ The National Clydesdale Show & The Iowa State Fair too. We named her SOLOMONS CRISTAL, A FINE CHAMPAGNE JUST LIKE SOLOMONS ASTI!
